This week is fleet week and lots of events are happening this weekend in SF.
The Chronicle says the best place to watch the shows are the Marina Green, Pier 39 or anywhere on the northern waterfront.

Sat 11am-Noon Parade of US & Canadian Navy ships
Sat 12:30-2:30 Red Bull Air Race World Series
Sat 2:30 Air show begins

Sun 10am-4pm Ship Tours
Sun 1pm Air show begins
Sun 3:00 Blue Angels perform
Mon & Tue 10am-4pm Ship Tours
If you're driving to the city around 3pm keep an eye out for the Angels. A few years ago, I went to visit a friend who lived in the Nob Hill district and we drank beers and watched the show from his aparment building rooftop. That was an awesome view of the show. Catching the ship parade is better to do at the Marina, while the planes fly all over the bay.
